Tshinzerere traditional dance
The tshinzerere is a play-dance for boys and girls performed especially on moonlight nights during autumn and winter. No drums are used, but the singing of the dancers is accompanied by rhymic handclapping and food stamping.
The boys stand oposite the girls at some distance from them. One of the boys stands out and touches a girl who then dances back with him. She touches another boy who in turn dances out with her, while the former boy returns to his place. The dance continues in this fashion. The participants obviosuly tend to touch a partner whom they favour.
