MINIATURE SCHNAUZER
It is believed that the miniature schnuzer was bred in Germany towards the end of the 19th Century by crossing small speciments of the standard schnauzer with affenpinschers and/or possibly miniature pinschers. The first speciment was entered in the German Stud Book in 1888. The name schnauzer may have come from the German Schnauze (muzzle or snout) but more probably from Schnauzbart (mounstache) which is characteristic of the breed.
