Burmese cat
The Burmese cat was developed in the United States during the 1930s. The Brown Burmese depicted on the stamp is regarded as the original type. Other popular recognised varieties are the Blue, Chocolate, Red and Cream Burmese. Burmese are hard-muscled, elegant cats with long legs, a wedge-shaped head slightly rounded on top, slightly rounded ears, and a short, well-developed, square muzzle. The large, lustrous, golden yellow eyes are almond shaped and widely spaced. The short, shiny coat is fine and satin-textured. Burmese are very intelligent, with a serene and affectionate nature.
